Biography:
Since before Bomi can remember she's been dancing. The rhythm has just always been in her blood. As has a knack for Taekwondo. Born in Suwon on a warm August day, to her parents and at the time an older sister, Yoon Sunmi, Bomi's family life and childhood were normal. Her parents worked hard at their jobs to keep their middle class status, a feat that became a little harder when Bomi's younger brother, Jongjin, was born, but even when it got financially hard the family of five was never without love and care.
Bomi was in primary school when her baby brother was born. By then she was taking as many dance classes as possible and had obtained a first degree black belt in Taekwondo and was well on her way to getting a second degree. She was a decent student, certainly not number one in her class, but high enough for her parents' liking. But making friends was a slow process for Bomi. Despite her active nature she was on the more shy side of the spectrum (at least that's how her parents phrased it) and as she entered secondary school this trend continued.
In her second year her father lost his job. The company he'd been working for had been bought by a bigger firm and his position liquidated. With only her mother working, her father became the stay at home dad who did part time work from home while the kids were at school. But even then it was harder to keep the family financially stable. And with them paying for Sunmi's college tuition on top of it Bomi took it upon herself to help out any way she could around the house while also working harder in school. She took on the cooking and cleaning as much as possible, even the laundry. It was clear that if she wanted to go to university she'd need some scholarships.
Movies were originally an escape for Bomi. She'd watch them as rewards for finishing her homework, essays or even getting good grades on tests. When grades were handed out at the end of certain periods of the school year, if they were high enough for her liking she'd take herself out to the theater to see something new. The horror genre was her favorite. It hadn't occurred to her, until she started looking into degree programs, that she loved them so much she could study them if she'd like. Yonseii University had a great film studies program and with her love for writing silly stories it occurred to her that, if she worked extra hard to get scholarships she could attend as soon as she graduated. Maybe she'd like the classes enough to declare a major in it.
And so, for the last two years of secondary school, Bomi could be found in the library or locked in her room studying when she didn't have other matters to attend to. And by the time she'd graduated she was sixth in her class. Not even close to valedictorian, no, but high enough to qualify for a good number of scholarships.
Applying and getting accepted to Yonseii was the easy part, as was the picking of classes and signing up for clubs and teams. What was going to be hard for Bomi was being social. She'd become awkward when it came to talking to others and making friends. She wanted to become better at it, so she entertained the idea of rushing for a sorority to maybe help with that.
It took a whole semester for her to decide which house was the best fit for her. In the end, Sigma Kappa was the winner. And shortly after her acceptance into the sorority, she decided on a major (Astronomy) and a minor (Dance).
Personality
Everyone has always seen Bomi as the shy or timid one. Well, almost everyone. Most of her family, even. The truth though, Bomi is just a little different from everyone else. She's never really felt like she fit in. It takes a pretty special person to understand the Bomi that comes out after the shyness melts away. She's a little silly, a lot quirky, a little nerdy (she loves space) and quite.... loud. Bomi likes to have fun, to dance and sing, play the drums or guitar, pay video games and watch movies. She's a kid.
Of course, all kids have to worry about school, too. Getting to where she did in the class when she graduated was a feat in and of itself. Bomi isn't the best at school in general. It took a lot of work for her to get her grades high enough to get those scholarships. One of the secrets to this achievement, though, is a planner. Bomi has trouble keeping track of dates, times, sometimes small details. If it weren't for having a smartphone with alarms and notifications and a paper copy of a class schedule she'd forget to do everything that comes with going to school.
Despite her current shy and timid demeanor she is trying to open up more, to become more social. She likes being around people and having friends, she's just not that savvy at all of it. She's rather determined to try and get better at it.
